It's Three Points And A Clean Sheet Said Beadle

Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle spoke to the local media after tonight's 2-0 win over Dunstable.

"Historically we've been poor against the lesser sides," said Beadle.

"Although saying that I thought Dunstable did great tonight. I thought they showed real endeavour and they worked hard right to the very end.

"Again no disrespect we could have been 8 - 0 with the chances we've missed tonight. So have we played that badly?

"It wasn't as fluid and the tempo wasn't there but again there's that expectation and the crowd quiet because they are expecting us to go and romp home and historically we've not been good against sides who are not doing so well in the league.

"Look at Wantage last year, 1-0 at their place, 3-2 here, it's never an easy game especially when teams come here and work.

"They're young, they're energetic but we've had four one on ones, three off the line so again on another night it could have been seven or eight but it wasn't to be.

"Whether it was seven or eight or two it's three points and a clean sheet which is what we wanted."

Garyn Preece started the game.

"He did well as he's had a couple of weeks off and needed the game time. He's had just over an hour tonight and looked sharp and lively, his first half especially, tired a bit in the second half, it was just what he needed.

Ryan Green wasn't available and John Mills didn't start.

"Ryan wasn't available which we knew about a long time ago and when the game was rearranged he already had plans for this week and things he couldn't change. That's fine.

"But as I said before it doesn't matter what team we put out we should be strong against anybody so it wasn't a case of disrespecting them.

"John has played outside of the first game of the season when he came on and Westfields, he's played in every game so he's one of the only ones that's played that amount.

"We felt he needed a bit of a breather. He felt his hamstring at Tiverton on Tuesday so it was a bit of a risk to play him on Saturday. That risk turned out to be a good one. So tonight he needed a rest.

"It gave us a chance to get Preen back and with Macca suspended we've had to shuffle the pack a little but the most important thing is that we've got three points on the board."

Turning to Saturday, interviewer Keith Hall pointed out that the Telford game is sold out.

"It's exciting, the excitement of the FA Cup. It's nice for them to be bringing the amount of fans they are.

"So a full house with a raucous atmosphere, that's the magic of the FA Cup. Everyone wants to be part of it.

"I think the fact that both teams feel they could probably win the game makes it even more exciting so hopefully it will be a really good game on Saturday and hopefully the best team will win it."

Hereford 2 - Dunstable Town 0

For the visit of Dunstable at Edgar Street on Tuesday evening, Peter Beadle made three changes to the Hereford side that beat Weymouth 4-1 on the weekend. John Mills dropped to the bench to make way for Mike Symons, Garyn Preen replaced the suspended Mike McGrath, and Ryan Green was left out of the squad, as Dan Preston started alongside Jack Deaman in the heart of defence.

Attacking the Meadow End in the first half, Lance Smith was quick to put pressure on Dunstable's defence. As Smith broke towards goal, he skilfully beat his man, but the keeper snatched the ball from his feet before he could get a shot away.

A similar chance for Smith followed in the 16th minute, and he should've done better to break the deadlock. After being one-on-one with the keeper, he saw his right-footed shot saved by the feet of Nicholas Hayes, before Garyn Preen blazed a follow up shot over the bar.

As the Bulls kept up the pressure on the visitors, they were unable to capitalise on a series of corners. Mike Symons came closest to grabbing the opener, but he headed over the crossbar after rising to meet Preen's corner

Preen, who made his first start since being knocked out at Eastleigh, looked bright throughout the first half. After a foul on the Welshman in the 32nd minute, Rob Purdie took the resulting free kick short, but Preen drilled the ball wide.
Dara O'Shea then tried his luck from the right-hand side of the box, but he dragged his shot wide.

Before the break, Dunstable had their first real chance of the game from a free kick, but Jonathan Barnett's shot from just outside the area proved an easy save for Martin Horsell.

At the start of the second half, Hereford took the lead. Mike Symons was impeded within the area, resulting in a penalty to the hosts. In the absence of John Mills, Lance Smith stepped up, firing the ball down the middle to break the deadlock.

Lance Smith then should've made it two, but somehow he missed the target after getting onto the end of Pablo Haysham's cross.

Dunstable's best chance of the half fell to Ryan Young, but he couldn't net an equaliser as his shot whistled wide. Moments later, an ambitious strike from Preen curled just wide as Hereford searched for a second.

In the 77th minute, Mike Symons' header looked destined for the back of the net, but somehow Lanre Ladipo headed the ball clear off the line.

But the Whites didn't have to wait too much longer to double their lead, as Keyon Reffell scored the second six minutes later. Substitutes Adam Page and John Mills combined effectively to work the ball into the box, before Reffell fired the ball home with his right-foot.

In the dying stages of the game, a handful of late corners for the Bulls didn't come to anything, as Hereford seemed content to see the game out 2-0 winners.

With Saturday looming, it was always going to a tough game, despite Dunstable's low position in the league. But now it's all eyes to the FA Cup, which is a sell out.

Saturday is Officially a Sell Out

During tonight's league game at Edgar Street, it was announced that all tickets for Saturday's FA Cup clash have been sold.

No more tickets are available from the club.

Tickets can be collected starting tomorrow, although due to the high number of orders, supporters are asked to be patient.

BBC and ITV News are set to feature the Bulls this week. More on this tomorrow.

Bulls Secure Three Points Against Dunstable

Hereford beat Dunstable Town 2-0 at Edgar Street this evening. Both goals came in the second half courtesy of Lance Smith (penalty) and man of the match Keyon Reffell.

Tonight's attendance of 1,686 is Hereford's first sub-2,000 crowd for a league game, but it's highly likely that this will be followed by a record breaking attendance on Saturday.

More later.

Last Cup Tickets On Sale This Evening

The last 30 tickets for Saturday's FA Cup tie against Telford will be on sale this evening at Edgar Street.

From 6.30pm they will be available at the reception desk next to Addison's.

The tickets are for the Len Weston Terrace.

Telford Ticket Collections From Wednesday Morning

Hereford FC have said that supporters who have purchased tickets online for Saturday's FA Cup tie against Telford will be able to collect them from tomorrow morning.

Due to the high volume of tickets sold they will not be ready for collection this evening at the Dunstable game.

Edwards Praises Telford Support

Around 725 Telford supporters are expected at Edgar Street on Saturday for the FA Cup game against Hereford.

Manager Rob Edwards is impressed by the likely level of support.

“It is a great show of support and full credit to the fans for getting behind the players,” said Edwards as reported by the Shropshire Star.

“That is down to the players as well, who are giving the fans something to cheer about and support.

“The players have done that, they are trying to bring people back with their work rate, their endeavour, their football.

"It is great that there is going to be a good following going to Hereford.”

Edwards is hopeful his players will be able to cope with the expected noise at the game.

“It’ll probably be a bit noisier to what we are used to on a Saturday and we have to handle that.

“If we do that, handle the occasion, then I am sure that we can come away with the win.”

Back To Reality For Hereford This Evening

It's back to reality for Hereford this evening with the visit of Dunstable for a Southern League Prem match.

The Bulls need to win this game to keep close to the leaders especially given their continued presence in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy means that they have to play catch-up with fixtures at some stage.

There is a view that this evening's game will have a sub 2000 attendance with the Telford game on Saturday being the choice of some supporters who aren't able to watch every game.

And it's Halloween night which also might keep some away.

The players may also have one eye on Saturday. No doubt manager Peter Beadle will remind them of his words after last Saturday.

"It's been a long few weeks and this is the difference with the step-up in leagues. Games come thick and fast and they are all teams who all have quality.

"Even the game on Tuesday we know if we don't prepare right we're going to make it hard work for ourselves and they will cause us a problem.

"So it's really important that we focus on every game as we go and the players keep giving what they are giving and the supporters keep with them."

Tickets for the game can be purchased from the club shop from 10am to 4pm or from the ticket office from 6pm.

They are also available online until 4pm.

Telford Set to Bring Largest Away Following Since Bulls Reformed

AFC Telford United have said it’s likely they will sell out their allocation ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup clash.

The Bucks said on Twitter: “Limited seats left now. Expecting to sell out our 727 allocation by Saturday at the latest.”

This means that they are set to break the record for the largest away following at Edgar Street since the Bulls reformed in 2015.

The current highest was set in March 2016 when Salisbury brought 537 for the first leg of the FA Vase semi final.

The same fixture also holds the record for the club's highest home attendance - 4,683.

The Meadow End was sold out for Salisbury's visit

Could this be broken on Saturday?

FA Cup Tickets - Kinnersley Blown Away by Speed of Sales

All seated areas have now sold out ahead of Saturday's match against Telford, with around 650 terrace tickets remaining.

Tickets had only been on general sale for four hours before the seated areas sold out.

Chairman Ken Kinnersley has spoken about quickly the tickets have been snapped up.

He told the OS: "We've been blown away by the incredible speed of sales this morning.

"To have sold out of seats within hours of going on general sale is a super effort from everyone. I'd like to thank all our fans for their support so far – it is absolutely amazing!

"We can't thank our fantastic supporters enough, and with the terraces getting closer to a sell out, it looks set to be an incredible atmosphere on Saturday."

FA Cup Tickets - Club Report Excellent Demand

Hereford FC have reported that there has been excellent demand for tickets for Saturday's FA Cup game against Telford this morning.

Currently less than 800 tickets remain unsold. Virtually all of these are terrace tickets either for the Meadow End or the Len Weston Stand.

Meanwhile Telford are close to selling out their allocation of 727 tickets.

Given it's all pay, except for executive club members, it looks like a gate approaching 4500 could watch the match.

Update 1.30pm: 700 terrace and 20 seated tickets remain available.

Update 2.40pm: 650 terrace tickets remain. Seated tickets sold out.

Playing At Edgar Street Will Be Brilliant Said Tenbury Manager

Hereford FC will be back in action the Tuesday after the Telford FA Cup game (November 7th) with a HFA Cup game against Tenbury United.

The game was set to be played at Tenbury but the club doesn't have floodlights so will be played at Edgar Street.

“It is a brilliant draw for Tenbury United and will be a great evening for the players and supporters,” said joint manager Nicky Stocker as reported by the Tenbury Advertiser.

“I’m not sure how many of their own fans will be there or even what sort of side they will put out but for us it is the chance to play at a proper stadium and on a decent pitch.

“I don’t expect us to win – even if they put in their fringe players they should still be better than us – but it will be a chance for our lads to play some football and show just what they are capable of.

“We have a couple of young lads who are decent and this will give them a good opportunity to perform in front of Hereford’s coaches.”

Stocker is looking forward to a return to Hereford.

“I was on Hereford’s books as a youth player for a couple of seasons but never got to play at Edgar Street.

"Our matches were over at Belmont and I was injured for the two games we played at the ground.”

Telford Manager Looks Forward To Cup Game At Hereford

Telford manager Rob Edwards is looking forward to next Saturday's FA Cup game against Hereford at Edgar Street.

Yesterday Telford drew 1-1 with Southport in the National League North after conceeding very late in the game. However in the last round of the FA Cup they defeated United of Manchester 3-1.

"We've got a week now to build up to the game," said Edwards as reported by the Telford OS.

"Nothing needs to change, don't need to do anything differently.

"We know what's coming, it's going to be a really intense game.

"It will be the loudest it's been all season wherever we've been. We've got to be able to handle that.

"But we've got the quality to win the game. At the same time we have to respect them because they are a good team.

"They are right up there in their league. They've already beaten National League opposition above us so we know it is going to be tough.

"We are looking forward to it."

Telford have now sold most of their 750 ticket allocation.

"I know we'll hear our fans and we'll try and give them something to cheer about."

New Lease Will Be Signed Shortly Says Kinnersley

A couple of weeks ago Hereford FC chairman Ken Kinnersley told the HUST AGM that he hoped it wouldn't be too long before the new ten year lease on Edgar Street was signed.

However Kinnersley is still waiting as he made plain in yesterday's match programme.

"We enjoy a cordial relationship with council officials and while they fully appreciate our desire to 'get the deal done', in return we must understand and respect the onus that rests on the officers to ensure they derive maximum benefit from the council's property assets and by so doing afford protection to all tax players."

Kinnersley thinks that, in time, Edgar Street will once again be a four-sided stadium. Currently the Blackfriars End isn't used by spectators and is not included in the ten year lease about to be signed. However the club has been involved in 'consulation meetings' with the Council about possible redevelopment.

"Although any decisions, including any beneficial gain to HFC, will only become evident over an extended time frame...I am encouraged that all the evidence indicates that the interests of the club and fans are being taken seriously.

"I do, however, urge patience from all supporters as clearly this is a long-term project with many varied issues to be overcome before Edgar Street can return to being a four-sided stadium."

After yesterday's match, Kinnersley spoke to BN.

He was asked when he expected the lease to be signed.

"It could be any day. There's a statutory document which has got to be sworn. When that's done we can sit there and sign the lease.

"It will definitely happen.

"The solicitors for the Council have so many things to deal with. Discussions go backwards and forwards then we reach an agreement, then it goes into a file for their solicitors to approve it.

"When you think of all the redevelopment that's going on there must be a mountain of stuff to deal with."

With the area east of the stadium about to be redeveloped does that put more pressure on the Council to agree something that much sooner for the Blackfriars End?

"I don't know, it's a political decision.

"It could depend how much pressure is coming on the Council from the Old Market (opposite)."

Hereford 4 – Weymouth 1

A Hat-Trick For John Mills Who Was Sponsors Kingspan's Man Of The Match
Hereford entertained Weymouth at home on Satuday in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy. Keyon Reffell started in favour of Jamie Bird on the wing, in what was the only change to the starting XI after the midweek draw at Tiverton.

Adam Page and Garyn Preen returned to the fray as they were named on the bench, having both suffered from concussion in recent weeks.

With the sun shining down on Edgar Street, a minute’s applause was held ahead of kick off in memory of Bulls fan Pat Morrow who sadly passed away recently.

Onto the game, and it was Weymouth who were first to
threaten. Attacking the Meadow End in the first half, Ben Thomson tried his luck from range before Martin Horsell was forced into tipping Harry Baker’s shot over the crossbar.

Despite the ropey start, the Bulls went on to dominate possession for the next fifteen minutes or so. Visiting keeper Mark Travers was called into action in the 14th minute to deny Pablo Haysham, but the keeper was well-positioned to make a comfortable save.

Hereford were fortunate not to find themselves a goal down following Jake McCarthy’s headed effort, but Horsell smothered the ball at the near-post. Another chance for the Terras followed, but Baker headed McCarthy’s cross into the side-netting.

At the other end of the pitch, Lance Smith missed a sitter as his powerful headed whistled wide of the post.

The Whites took the lead in the 35th minute after Mills scored his 119th goal in a Hereford shirt. Jack Deaman’s lofted ball saw Mills through on goal, and with his first touch made no mistake in finding the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

Hereford extended their lead three minutes later as the 27-year old scored again. Dara O’Shea provided a low-cross from the right, Mills fired the ball home from the edge of the area, despite the keeper getting a touch.

Two minutes before the break, Jake McCarthy almost pulled a goal back for the visitors. With Horsell racing off his line, McCarthy was able to round Hereford’s stopper, but his strike was kept out thanks to a goal line clearance from Ryan Green.

HT: Hereford 2 – Weymouth 0

The Terras started brightly in the second half, and three minutes after the restart a free header for Harry Barker was weak and straight at the keeper.

Hereford went on to let their two goal lead slip, as McCarthy pulled a goal back. The Bulls were caught sleeping following a Weymouth corner, and McCarthy’s shot found the back of the net after taking a deflection.

As the Bulls looked to restore their two goal advantage, Pablo Haysham’s right-footed shot lacked any real conviction as the keeper gathered the effort.

In the 72nd minute, Lance Smith scored his second goal in as many games. After a great ball from John Mills, Pablo Haysham saw his shot from the edge of the area parried by the keeper, but Lance Smith got onto the end of the rebound to force the ball home.

Seven minutes later, Mills completed his hat trick as he scored Hereford’s fourth goal of the afternoon. Much to the surprise of Weymouth’s defence, referee Sarah Garratt allowed Pablo Haysham to take a quick free kick to John Mills. As the Hereford marksman feigned to shoot, the keeper was left helpless on the floor, with Mills then calmly lifting the ball over him into the unguarded net.

Despite the introduction of Adam Page and Garyn Preen, the Whites couldn’t create a fifth as they comfortably made it into Monday’s draw for the next round.

FT: Hereford 4 – Weymouth 1
Att: 1,552 with 31 in the away enclosure
Sponsors’ MotM: John Mills – who has now scored 121 goals in 121 games.
