HFA Charity Walking Football Festival For The Bobby Moore Fund

This from the HFA:

Herefordshire FA are pleased to announce that they will be hosting a charity walking football festival in partnership with the Bobby Moore Fund. 33 Similar events are taking place across the country to raise important funds to help tackle bowel cancer whilst also increasing awareness of walking football.

The event is taking place on Sunday 9th July between 10:00 and 12:30 on the 3G pitch at Hereford Sixth Form College and is open to all players over the aged of 18 regardless of their ability. The event is open to both men and women and HFA would love to see all of Herefordshire football represented. It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced footballer or have never played before, all abilities are welcome. The aim is to showcase walking football and raise money for the charity. Walking football is a brilliant activity for those looking to get back into football, recovering or suffering from injury or illness, or just looking to socialise and take part in something new.

Entry costs just £5 per player and 100% of entry fees and money raised will go to the Bobby Moore Fund. HFA will also be running a raffle (prizes including an England shirt signed by Gareth Southgate) to raise further money and players/teams will receive a fundraising pack once registered to help them raise additional money.

The Bobby Moore fund was selected to be the FA's official charity partner last year, fittingly, as we celebrated the 50th year of Bobby leading England to victory in the World Cup. Bowel cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK and almost 42000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK every year. The chances of dying from bowel cancer have fallen by almost 30% since the Bobby Moore Fund was set up but there is still much more to do!
