Visiting Alvechurch On Thursday

Alvechurch
Hereford supporters travelling to Alvechurch on Thursday may find that they have to park some way from the ground given the car park at the club can only take around 50 cars.

Going by coach may be an easier option.

This guide was written by Royston Richardson and originally published on BN on March 4th.

We republish it without the train details as there's no service back to Hereford

In terms of pubs the Weighbridge is worth a visit which is conveniently situated next to the train station.  Its a very small quirky pub.  Remember we're a village so opening hours at the Weighbridge are restricted (12pm-3pm, 7pm-11pm).  In the village the best drinking pub is the Swan which is the closest to the ground (approx 5-10 mins).  For a more civilized drink and food try the Red Lion.  For the more energetic fan you can walk along the canal side to the Crown but this will make your later walk to the ground longer.  And finally the club has a decent sized lounge and bar and is likely to put on extra drinking/food facilities. Cheap booze too.

There is also the usual village chippy (bottom of Bearhill Drive), curry house and chinese opposite the chippy.

If you are driving I suggest you park in the village and walk to the ground as parking is limited at the club. In the old days when gates reached 1000+ cars parked on the Redditch Road and a nearby field but I suspect the police will restrict any traffic on the Redditch Road.  There is a free public car park in the village on Tanyard Lane, approx. 60 places but generally it's safe to park anyway in the village.

Look forward to seeing you all on the 28th!!

Update: Parking in the Village

There is a free public car park at the back of the Red Lion pub off Tanyard Lane (approx 50 places). In addition you can park on most of the roads with the exception of the Redditch Road in close proximity to the ground. Other roads:-

Swan Street - yes but is usually quite busy with residence parking. No parking restrictions. 5-7 min walk
School Lane - no parking (narrow one way road)
Station Road - yes - one side only. No parking restrictions. 10-12 min walk.
Bear Hill - yes but usually quite busy with residence parking. There are also 6-10 parking public parking spaces. 10 min walk.
Tanyard Lane - yes. one side only I think. Usually quiet. 10-15 min walk
Radford Road - no parking
Red Lion Street - no parking.
Snake Lane / Withybed Lane - yes. 15-20 min walk.
Other Roads - no known parking restrictions.

Basically you could park anyway in the village and you wont be more than 20-25 mins walk from the ground.
