Beadle Wants To Stay With Hereford

Peter Beadle doesn't currently have a contract with Hereford FC so in theory could leave at any time but as he told BN who wouldn't want to stay given the season the club is having.

"I've never had a contract here," he said.

"At the start of the year I'm sure the board were obviously cautious and nervous and wanted to see how the season panned out.

"There's been no talk of anything like that for next year so, at the moment, obviously after today the season has now finished so that makes me free to speak to anybody else.

"Of course I'd like to stay, who wouldn't the way things are going at the moment.

"But as for a contract there's nothing like that in place at the moment.

"It would be nice to be thought of in the way that you would be offered a contract as a reward for the work we've done and my staff.

"Even though the players have been fantastic this year behind the scenes, not a lot of people see this,  the amount of games we go to and the travelling we do and the work behind the scenes with staff with Roger with the kit and Jony with the injuries, sometimes he tries to get them in in his own time. Roger is in a lot of time during the week with the kit. We travel and watch quite a few games.

"So it's an awful lot of work that goes on behind the scenes as well as the players having to come out and play every week.

"A reward for the work we have done would always be nice.

"The fact that we're here is bonus enough because it's a fantastic club to be at and we're happy to be what we are doing, we've really enjoyed the season so far, we've had a fantastic year, we've got one trophy in the cabinet and now we're on to the next one on Monday."

We Want To Win The HFA Cup Final On Monday Said Beadle

Hereford's next game is at Edgar Street on Monday in the HFA Cup Final and manager Peter Beadle wants to win it.

"Monday is our first cup final," Beadle told BN.

"The boys are looking forward to it, it will be another big game for them.

"We will make sure we prepare properly for it and put out as strong a team as we can.

"We want to win it.

"I can't pick my team I've got to trust my players to understand the situation that they are in and I've got to trust them to play the game with their heads.

"We're going to go as strong as we can and try and put on a good performance again."

Kick-off is at 3pm.

Shepshed Dynamo 1 - Hereford 3

Rob Purdie Led Out Hereford This Afternoon
As Hereford looked to finish their league campaign on a high away at Shepshed this afternoon, boss Pete Beadle named almost a totally different starting XI to the one that made it through to the PPLC final on Thursday night, making 10 changes with only John Mills retaining his place.

The referee deemed Hereford’s kit to be too similar to Shepshed’s black and white striped home kit, forcing the Bulls to don the host’s yellow away strip.

The encounter between champions Hereford and 4th-placed Dynamo started slowly, with a number of offside flags against Hereford.
In the 13th minute, Sirdic Grant’s well-worked cross took a number of deflections before trickling through to Mike Symons at the far post, but his shot from an acute angle went wide of the upright.

There were few chances throughout the half, with the next effort on goal coming in the 27th minute when John Mills’ dragged his shot from the left of the box just wide.

But 2 minutes later Mills did find the back of the net to open the scoring. Mills’ 30-yard strike, left Dynamo stopper Jack Drury watching on helplessly as the ball flew in the top left hand corner of the net.

Then with 32 minutes on the clock, Mills grabbed his 52nd goal of the season. A Jimmy Oates throw deep into the box was met with a flicked header from Mike Symons, for Mills to poke across the line from close range.

Before half time, Jimmy Oates tried to grab his first league goal for Hereford, taking a free kick following a foul on Sirdic Grant; but the Australian saw his effort from 20-yards sail too high to trouble Drury.

HT: Shepshed Dynamo 0 - Hereford 2

Pete Beadle made two substitutions at the start of the second period, not wanting to risk the already booked Jimmy Oates and Rob Purdie, introducing Joel Edwards and Anthony Robbins respectively. Another change was then forced upon the Bulls 6 minutes after the restart, with Nathan Summers replacing the injured Jamie Willets.

Hereford started the half strongly having a number of chances in the opening stages, with Drury being the busier of the two keepers. Sirdic Grant did well to make progress down the right wing before cutting into the box. The keeper then made a fine save palming away Grant’s right-footed shot, as Shepshed cleared the ball ahead of Symons.

As the hour mark passed, against the run of play the hosts managed to pull a goal back through substitute Sam Moore. As Moore broke away on a solo run down the left, he beat both James Bowen and Ryan Green as he drifted into the box, sending a shot low across Hereford's keeper Martin Horsell to narrow the deficit.

In the 68th minute John Mills was unlucky not to grab his hat trick, after running half the length of the pitch his strike took a deflection off the last man for a corner. Aaron Birch's inswinging delivery was knocked around in the area before being cleared, with a strong penalty shout being dismissed by the referee in the process.

With 77 minutes on the clock, Hereford regained their 2 goal lead thanks to Sirdic Grant. As Grant latched onto a great through ball from Aaron Birch, he had time to compose himself in front of goal before firing low past the keeper for his second goal since joining the Bulls.

Chances for both sides dried up as the half entered the dying stages, with Hereford seemingly content to see the game out, taking home the final 3 points of the season.

Refereeing Decisions Forced Reshuffle Said Beadle

After this afternoon's 3-1 win at Shepshed Dynamo, Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle spoke to BN.

"I thought in spells we played really well," said Beadle.

"I thought the two early goals were great for us.

"They never really seemed to cause us a problem first half but we had to reshuffle a little bit at half time because of some poor refereeing decisions. Sometimes that unsettles people but we got going second half eventually.

"We had a little spell just when they got their goal, we came off it a little bit but I thought once they got their goal we got back in it again and we created numberous chances and could have scored four or five if we had taken them."

Do we try and walk the ball in sometimes when we would have shot?

"I think we are probably nit-picking now when you think that we've scored I think before today 188 in all competitions so three more today takes us to 191.

"Yes it's been a bug-bear of mine at times this year when we've tried to over-play but you can't fault the lads on that front even with chances created.

"Yes sometimes you ask them to pull the trigger a bit earlier but the most important thing is that we've kept winning games and we've kept this away run going and we've taken it right to the end of the season."

Not a clean sheet this afternoon.

"It was in our sloppy spell and it was James's good side on his left foot to roll it back to Martin but for whatever reason he didn't, got caught out on the ball and we got punished for it.

"We can not at any time take our foot off the boil, get sloppy because if we do whoever we play we are going to get punished and we can't keep doing it.

"Hopefully they will learn from that and next time he'll either roll it back or kick it out of play and we can defend it from there.

"A clean sheet would have been a bonus but again I think we are nit-picking.

"We've had twenty odd away victories consecutive in all competitions and to worry about the fact that we've conceeded one in a three one win is really picking the bones in it a little bit.

"If it had been the first couple of games of the season I would have said yes, but last game of the season, the players have been magnificent, all of them have been fantastic and like I said we've ended it on a high and it's just nice to know in 42 games this year we've only dropped points in seven.

"So we are just going to enjoy it for tonight and then look forward to Monday."

Beadle took off Rob Purdie and Jimmy Oates at half-time.

"I took Purds and Jimmy off because they both got booked.

"If any of them had been sent off today they would both miss Wembley. The referee put us in a situation where we really had to bring them off because they both got booked for nothing, we don't understand why they got booked in the first place bearing in mind the challenge at the end ( on James Bowen ).

"If those two fouls were bookings then that challenge at the end is a red card all day long. So that is the inconsistancy we have to deal with so that was why we brought them off because the referee was unpredictable we didn't know what we was going to do next so the safest thing to do was bring them off."

Jamie Willets had to leave the field after a nasty knock on his ankle.

"He got a bang, it's an impact blow. I'm sure it will stiffen up tonight and it will be sore tomorrow.

"We're going to send him for an x-ray and have a double check on it and then if nothing comes back from that then it is just an impact.

"Hopefully it will settle down in a few days time and it won't be too bad but it looked a sore one, hopefully it will settle down quickly."
