Updated Anthem For Hereford FC

There is to be an updated anthem for Hereford FC based upon the original Danny Lee classic.

The Basement Recording Studio is working with Andy Boucher aka Andrew Marc (Danny Lee's son) in a new re-working of the classic Hereford anthem and yes, they are keeping the word "United" in the lyric. Entitled "Hereford Forever, United We Love You", recording starts this week, and final production will be ready at the end of November.

They are pulling in some of the finest musicians in the Midlands for a completely fresh version of this classic whilst retaining its integrity, true to Danny's memory. Its one of those CD's you will want to receive on Xmas day. As well as the new track they will also include a karaoke version (for those who want to singalong to the old lyrics) as well as re-mastered bonus tracks of the 1972, 1979 and 2002 versions

No Approach For Mills

Speculation that a club had put in a seven day approach for striker John Mills is incorrect according to Hereford FC.

'No approach for Mills from any club', said a spokesperson.

Meanwhile former Hereford United captain Ian Wright's son Luke was the number five for Walsall Wood last night.

He was formerly with the Wolves youth team where they're played him in central midfield rather than his preferred central defender role.

Finally Lee Evans who kept goal for Wood may the same Lee Evans who was in the Hereford United squad in the 2001/2 season.

Update On HUST Accounts

HUST have issued an update about their accounts.

2015 Draft Accounts / Lockett & Co.

At the AGM in September 2014, the figures produced by the previous Treasurer were his own figures prior to audit.  He worked for Lockett & Co, Chartered Certified Accountants but then departed for pastures new.  They do not undertake audits for Mutual Societies so I was recommended to Hawkins Priday Ltd.  They audited the May 2014 figures and have recently completed those to the 31st May 2015.  I wish to clarify that Lockett & Co have not at any time been the auditors for HUST.

The Accounts to the 31st May 2015 have been delayed due to a mixture of holidays at Hawkins Priday and also getting invoices and receipts from the previous Treasurer relating to the early months of the financial year period.  The Accounts were marked “draft” by the auditors as they wanted sign off by the HUST Board before finalising and lodging them with Companies House.  Unfortunately they were not ready in time for the August HUST Board Meeting and as I was away for the September meeting then this business will be concluded at the October meeting.  We have until the 31st December 2015 to complete this exercise.

Mike Langford
HUST Treasurer

Futher update: BN has been told that elections to the HUST board are unlikely to take place before January 2016

News Round-Up

Dunkirk have promoted assistant manager Tom Richardson to be their new manager in the wake of Nick Hawkins' resignation. The RAF Corporal joined the club in the summer from Beeston. Ex-Bull Tyler Weir has taken his first steps in management by helping out a Worcester Sunday League side. Colletts Green have two former Worcester City teammates in their ranks.

After their successful "Save Top Field" campaign to stop a sale of their ground by the charity owners, Hitchin Town are to now consult fans and the community over their future plans for the ground. The consultation will have three options attached, with the first to do nothing. The other options are to partially renovate the ground, or to move to a new site at a nearby school. A club statement says that the next move will only happen with a 'common vision' among all parties.

Newport's Supporters Trust says it needs a further £10,000 to fund their takeover on the club on what is now the deadline day to meet the £195,000 target. On the pitch the club remain bottom of the Football League after a 3-0 home defeat to Crawley, managed by former caretaker boss Jimmy Dack, last night.

Maidstone have reported a six figure profit for the third successive year thanks to their 3G surface. The profits have been reinvested by the club's co-owners, spending £650,000 to bring the Gallagher Stadium up to scratch for National South and a 3,000 capacity.

Great Result For Us Says Beadle

Hereford FC manager Peter Beadle felt last night's 6-0 win at Walsall Wood was a 'great result for us'.

However his side were matched for the better part of the first half.

"It was a great result for us, a fantastic result to be fair," Beadle told BN.

"Again first half, we didn't seem right in the warm up. May be I'm not giving teams we are playing against enough credit but they were a really good team tonight certainly for the first half hour.

"They gave us a really good game, they mixed the system up and they went for it and they had really some good players and they had a go.

"I think we were fortunate to go in 2-0 up but I thought second half we were excellent.

"We pinned them in and we looked a threat every time we went forward and even before we got the third we could have got two before that with two efforts from John.

"It sends out a great message with two clean sheets on the bounce, we're scoring goals the other end. We've tightened it up at one end and getting goals at the other end and we've come and played a really good side tonight but we've taken them apart second half to be fair. There's no other way of putting it."

Keeper Harvey Rivers made a great tip over during the first half, probably the only time he was troubled throughout the game.

"They caused us problems first half with the way they played and we didn't get to grips with it.

"We ask the players to think whilst the game is going on, it's hard to do it from the sidelines.

"You can see what's going wrong or not happening right and you can see what you want to do but it's trying to get that message to everybody.

"So half-time we adjusted it a little bit and they were not a threat second half with the way we played.

"The fact that we got the third goal and then the fourth and then it was a case of if we could get a few more to help our goal difference would be great but also be mindfull to keep a clean sheet the other end."

Both Sol Wheatley and Adam Page left the pitch with injuries during the second half.

"Sol just felt his back when he set up the first or second goal, he felt his back twinge.

"People like Sol, Nathan, Sirdic and Jimmy they are training every day at Harpbury so they are working extremely hard at the moment so we are going to have to be careful how we manage them.

"Sol was great again tonight in spells but was still frustrating in spells.

"Just a twinge and I'm sure by the weekend he will be fine.

"Page had a tight calf on Saturday and then had a couple of kicks in it tonight but he's got a bit of a rest now because he can't play on Saturday.

"Loan players can't play in the Vase. Adam is on loan, everyone else is signed with us.

"We've got more than capable deputies who can come in and stake their claim for a place.

"The Vase is a competition we want to do well in. There is a fantastic bonus at the end of it, a game at Wembley.

"There's no bigger carrot than playing at the National Stadium so we want to do as well as we can in that competition."

Bulls too good for Wood

Joel Edwards Captained Hereford FC
Hereford FC recorded their biggest victory of the Midland Premier League season with a 6-0 win at Walsall Wood. John Mills and Adam Page handed the Bulls a half-time lead, before Hereford ran riot in the second-half, adding four further goals, with Mills completing his hattrick, alongside a goal from Dylan Bonella and an own goal by Walsall 'keeper Lee Evans.

After the success at Boldmere on Saturday, Peter Beadle named an unchanged eleven to begin the match on a cold September evening.

Sol Wheatley warmed the hands of Evans with a 25 yard shot whilst Walsall Wood probed early on, with a 25 yard crispy half-volley well blocked by the Hereford defence. The best opportunity in the opening exchanges fell to Pablo Haysham; a long boot forward was headed away from danger by the home 'keeper with Haysham caressing a right-foot shot back goalwards. Evans was in no man's land but the ball cleared the bar from 30 yards.

Hereford took the lead with ten minutes remaining of the first-half, and it was the usual suspect who grabbed it. Superb build up allowed Haysham and Wheatley to link up, and the former played in top goalscorer Mills, who slotted home with excellence accuracy in the far corner.

John Mills Opened The Scoring For Hereford
The home team reacted well to going a goal down and their number 10 did well to get past Nathan Summers, and hit a powerful 30 yard strike towards goal which Harvey Rivers did well to tip over the bar. Yet, it was the visitors who would have the final say in the first-half as they added a second. Joel Edwards showed pace and power to get past two players on the left-wing, crossing to the back-post and under pressure, Evans dropped the ball at the feet of Page, who hooked home with his left-foot from close-range.

Keeper Evans Collects Then Drops The Ball Close To Adam Page
Beadle was forced into an early second-half change as Wheatley knocked his lower back, and Max Kontic-Coveney replaced him on right-wing. Hereford should have been three goals in front as Mills squandered two good chances in the space of a minute. Firstly, Haysham broke from the middle of the park and fed in Mills, who after cutting back inside his man, toe-poked just past the post. Moments later, Mills again got in an excellent position after reacting quickest to a loose ball but a right-foot placed strike went past the 'keeper's post.

It didn't take long for Mills to grab his second though, as Haysham fed Page on the left-hand side of the box; the Cheltenham loanee struck goalwards but a block took it into the path of Mills, who turned his marker inside man and placed the ball into the corner to make it 3-0.

Mills About To Score Hereford's Third

Soon after Bonella added a fourth for Hereford. Kontic-Coveney played the ball to Adam Birch, who in turn found Bonella, and after setting himself with one touch on the edge of the box, he unleashed a fierce left-foot shot into the bottom corner.

Dylan Bonella With Joel Edwards (Left) And John Mills (Right)
Hereford were playing with freedom, and looked threatening everytime they went forward. Haysham hit a 30 yard effort over the bar, before he would have had a tap in, but Mills took one touch too many inside the box and failed to find the cutting pass. Instead, it was a more familiar site with Haysham the creator and Mills the goalscorer, as Hereford made it five. Haysham spun his man impressively and headed towards goal, and the ball eventually broke to Mills; Hereford's leading marksman smashed a crisp right-foot shot into the back of the net.

With three minutes of normal time remaining, the Bulls added a sixth. A corner from the left wasn't fully cleared and Birch struck sweetly from 20 yards with the ball hitting the post but rebounding off Evans's back, and into his own net.

Keeper Lee Evans Can't Keep The Ball From Going Into The Net
This was up there with the best performances of the season. Walsall Wood started the game well and looked a threat early on, but once Hereford had opened the scoring, they grew in confidence and starting working the ball well. There were some strong performances across the pitch; Jamie Willets again read everything well, and was strong in the air and in the tackle, as is becoming the norm since his arrival. Bonella in the middle showed some class touches, and took his goal superbly, whilst Mills up front oozes quality in front of goal and thoroughly deserved his hattrick, although he could have perhaps had five, squandering some other good opportunities.

Next up for Hereford is the FA Vase trip to Bardon Hill on Saturday.

Hereford: Rivers, Green, Summers, Willets, Edwards, Wheatley (Kontic-Coveney), Bonella, Birch, Page (Miller), Haysham, Mills.

Subs not used: Hughes, Grant, Oates.
