Torquay Takeover Collapses

Torquay's takeover talks have collapsed, with the supporters trust now in talks with a group of local businessmen to salvage the loss-making club.

Owner Thea Bristow, who is reported to have put more than £200,000 into the Plainmoor outfit since her departure announcement in March, says her shares are available for free but the club has substantial ongoing losses to cover.

Her funds will cover the club until June but the clock is now ticking on a financial deal after the individual involved in the original offer had a 'material change in their situation' which halted the deal.

Advisor Kelvin Thomas has departed for his US base, saying he will continue to give advice but can spend no more time in Devon.

Truro owner Peter Masters was claimed to be part of the second ground, a claim he denies but admits he has been in talks with the Gulls over a potential groundshare.

Truro are seeking planning permission for a new ground, but may need to seek a temporary home following their promotion to Conf South if their application is delayed. If they do share at Plainmoor, it would be a 170 mile round trip for home matches for fans.
