News Round-Up

An early transfer battle has taken place in the Midland League with Division 1 champions Highgate United declaring victory. Striker Dave Yonwin, who scored 46 goals in 49 games for Bolehall Swifts in Div 1, had been announced as a new signing for 18th place finishers Coventry Sphinx on Wednesday only for Highgate - who already have 48 goal Lei Brown - to gazump them three days later. Highgate have also signed former Tamworth and Kidderminster forward Scott Rickards.

Former Bulls loanee Michael Forsyth is one of seven backroom staff to depart Sheffield Utd in the wake of their announcement this morning to part company with Nigel Clough as manager. Forsyth played 11 times for the Bulls in 1996, before first teaming up with Clough at Burton and then Derby. Former Bull Ian Foster has been named First Team Coach at Portsmouth.

Torquay's ownership issues may not be over just yet. A new consortium, led by the club's Commercial Manager, has tabled a bid for the Conference side. Dean Edwards played for the club between 1988 and 1991, and is reported to have a group of local businessmen together ready to put a six figure sum into the club. Edwards says they should complete due diligence in the coming week.

Ex-Bull Darren Randolph has rejected a new contract at Birmingham City and is now expected to join a Premier League side this summer. The 28 year old made over 200 appearances for the Blues and Motherwell, as well as two Eire caps, since his disappointing spell at Edgar Street in 2008.
