UITC finish first half of season

With yesterday's game at Bury postponed due a waterlogged pitch, the young bulls have now finished their programme and break for the Christmas period.

Tomorrow sees our last day of work before a 2 week break when we travel the Herefordshire hospital to hand our gifts to the children who may not make it home for the holidays. It's always nice to work within the community and try to put a smile on some faces so we look forward to the visit. Then we have a little futsal tournament between us in the afternoon at the point4 gym, one the coaches will be up for winning.

With an unsure summer after HUFCs youth team was disbanded, I think we have over achieved on the field although I am still disappointed we didn't do better. We end the first half of the season with a record of 8 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses in all competitions which is a tremendous result being the only team in the league and cup who are not of league affiliation. The youth cup run however was a sour point for us, especially when you see Bury playing against Manchester United, but our boys have learnt from that loss.

In the league our record of 3 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss is also impressive and something to build on in January. The players have been brilliant with their attitudes. Our lads don't get paid, so to put so much hard work in on the field is testament to their attitudes. Particularly on Wednesday when I worked their proverbials off in the gym and around the pitch, all of them put everything in and that is what makes my job a good one.

We will talk tomorrow about what they need to do on their two week break and the attitude they need to come back with and I'm sure they will do it professionally. There is a top 3 finish to fight for in the league, the quarter finals of the national cup along with the Hereford Giantkillers semi final against bromyard to look forward to, and to work hard for!

We couldn't of got through the first half of the season without help from the community itself. Seeing you all notice what we are trying to do with these young lads is rewarding so a big thank you to anyone and everyone that has donated to our cause, and to HUST who have kindly sponsored so many things for us.

I hope in January the next update from us is a positive one and we can continue to work on getting local players in hereford noticed and giving them a chance in the game. Anyone wanting to help us whether through sponsorship or coming and playing in our age groups from U12s-U19s would be welcome so don't hesitate to get in touch with us at HUFCCommunity

Finally i hope everyone has a good Christmas and that the new year brings better things for us all

Thankyou
Rob Purdie
