Lonsdale Expects Large Investment In Club

Hereford United chairman Andy Lonsdale has reaffirmed that a large investment in Hereford United is expected shortly.

He has given a statement to the OS part of which is reproduced below.

The proposed development of the ground is still the subject of negotiation and a number of options have been considered. There has been much speculation regarding these matters the majority of which has not only been wide of the mark, but totally impossible.

The club was pleased to hear Herefordshire Council Leader Tony Johnson reiterate the facts surrounding this issue on BBC H&W where again he outlined the restrictive nature of the covenants involved in this venture. The facts are and always have been that the only areas that must be developed are the ends of the ground. The club must use this opportunity to both provide a facility that can be used for the wider community and also produce a sustainable income to secure the future of the footballing side, another area that was once again confirmed by Tony Johnson.

We are working hard to bring to the negotiations for this development to a successful conclusion to enable us to produce the required drawings etc for the council to approve.

With regard to the winding up petitions we have a 42 day adjournment until Monday December 1st. We recognise the petitioner’s rights and concerns in these matters; we also accept that supporters worries over the security of the club.

I can assure both that we are working tirelessly to bring these matters to a conclusion. We expect to be able to announce a large investment into the club along with the proposals for the redevelopment, very shortly.

In the meantime, can I ask that you please bear with us and come to support the team. We have had to start from scratch and need your support to get this part, the most important part, absolutely right. I would like to express my thanks to all those attending games, I'm sure you are enjoying the style of play; we need to get the side winning regularly.
