Chippenham Oldest Club In South West

Hereford United travel to Chippenham Town tonight for a Southern League Premier match.

It is a game between two sides struggling for form. The hosts have won two FA Cup matches 1-0, but are five games without a win in the league after a strong start of four wins in five. Much of their problems are down to injuries in their small squad, including veteran ex-Torquay, Plymouth, and Exeter striker Lee Phillips.

Jon Taylor's side have won only one in four including dipping out of two cup competitions to lower graded sides. Wholesale changes to each starting XI have not helped, but there are few clues from the club as to why these changes are made for each game.

Chippenham, who call themselves the oldest club in the South West, having been founded in 1873, lie two points above their visitors having played a game less with the Bluebirds still on FA Cup duty.

Meanwhile, the club are selling a limited range of branded training kit through an online shop in association with Bideford based MJM Sports. The company provides shops for other Southern League sides including Histon, Poole, and Truro.
