Fans Wait For Monday Announcement

Fans are waiting on news of the planned announcement from the Directors of Hereford United to see what the future holds for the club.

Rumour and counter rumour have spread around the city over the weekend regarding the club's future. Claims that a mystery backer has been found are countered with suggestions that the doors will be permanently locked on Monday morning.

With IP Marc Landsman saying he would not advise anyone to put money in to the club in it's current state, it is difficult to see where a potential saviour would come from.

With several of the footballing debts still outstanding, Landsman told creditors that the Southern League still held around £7,000 to cover these. However it is understood the actual amount outstanding is much higher.

Peter Beadle noted on Twitter over the weekend that he was still owed sums by the club, adding his name to a growing list of former employees still owed money past the League's own deadline to settle football creditors.

At the creditors meeting one former employee disputed claims that the payroll company had supplied false information to the club, as had previously been claimed. Landsman told them he could only go on the information he had been given by the club.

In addition to these sums, any backer would have a clear a HMRC debt which is now in excess of £170,000 as well as the sums claimed by Martin Foyle and Andy Porter, along with other claims that have been attached to Foyle's Winding-Up petition.

Beyond those debts, a new backer would also likely have to subsidise the first team payroll going forward. With 19 players already on the books, and having netted just one point so far from three games, six more are claimed to be awaiting international clearance.

The existence of this French contingent, first revealed in the Hereford Times ten days ago, was confirmed by Keith Dodd as he reported for BBC Hereford & Worcester yesterday, leaving many to wonder why a club with such problems would still be trying to sign new players.

With the uncertainty, bookmakers have again declined to offer odds on Tuesday's match. As of this evening, the club's official site hasn't had a news story posted to it in five days, and the Twitter account has been dormant for four.

The silence should be broken tomorrow, but few have any real idea what the news will be.
