Lambs Aim For Sustainable Future

Tamworth chairman Bob Andrews says the club will seek a long term sustainable future rather than throw money at an immediate attempt to return back to the Conference.

Andrews says the club will consider a 3G plastic pitch at The Lamb, to turn the ground into a cash generating community use facility and ease their own problems with finding places to train, if the Conference agree to a full implementation of the surface during summer talks.

The Lambs beat Hednesford 5-2 last night to book a Birmingham Senior Cup final date with West Brom. After the game, manager Dale Belford praised loanee Kevin Thornton. The Wrexham midfielder, 27, scored twice for the Lambs in the win and has been a growing influence since coming in during March, with Belford telling the local press:

"Kev is a top player and when he is enjoying his football that (his display) is what you get. Hopefully, now he's played a few games and he's enjoying himself, he can keep putting in performances like that."

The Lambs were last relegated in 2006, spending two seasons in Conf North before ex-Bull Gareth Sheldon helped to fire them back to the fifth tier in 2008.
