Bulls Advent Calendar - No.22

Number twenty two on the Bulls Advent Calendar is Adam Stansfield.

The always smiling Devonian ventured north to join the Bulls in the summer of 2004, having been released by Yeovil after three seasons following his breakthrough from local football.

After top scoring for the Glovers in his first season, he missed all but one game of the second - and their promotion to the Football League - due to injury and was a bit-part player in their debut season in the League before being released.

Stansfield netted 22 times in total for the Bulls in his debut season, but his second season was again disappointing with 20 less games played and 13 less goals. Despite starting in the play-off final at Leicester, he was released in the summer.

Stansfield moved to Exeter, chalking up a third club to gain promotion to the League with him in their squad. Although never a prolific scorer for the Grecians, he netted regularly before abdominal pains brought a series of tests and a terrible diagnosis.

Adam died, a month short of his 32nd birthday, on August 10th 2010.
