Edgar Street Trip Is Torquay's Last Pre-Season Match

Torquay's trip to Edgar Street on Saturday is their final pre-season game.

The Gulls open their Football League campaign at home to Wimbledon next Saturday and are expected to field as close to their starting XI as possible.

Manager Alan Knill is still seeking two further players, a defender and striker, to finalise his squad with ex-Bournemouth defender Shaun Cooper close to agreeing terms after a trial. Trialist striker Scott Rendell, transfer listed by Luton, is out with a hamstring problem and is unlikely to be offered a deal immediately.

The Gulls are unbeaten so far in pre-season, having beaten the Royal Marines, Yeovil, and Salisbury before a half-strength side drew with Tiverton in midweek, with ex-Bull Sam Malsom scoring for the minnows.

Bulls trialist Daniel Leadbitter, who has impressed so far in pre-season, will get an early reunion with the side he left earlier in the summer. The Gulls let him go after two years at Plainmoor, having been signed by former boss Martin Ling, with Knill dropping the 22 year old after just two matches in charge.
