Wycombe Set For Cash Crisis

Relegation threatened League One side Wycombe are facing a cash crisis after owner Steve Hayes failed to sell rugby side Wasps.

At the start of the month the club failed to submit it's accounts in time and were placed under a transfer embargo, then Hayes was confirmed to have been arrested on suspicion of computer hacking by the Police team investigating News International.

Now a deal by Hayes to sell Wasps, to Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous, has fallen through with Hayes telling fans he will not fund them any further. Little is known of the deal between Hayes and Kleanthous, but it is reported to have fallen through due to funding issues. Today's national press is reporting that the rugby side, losing £2million a year and in need of up to £8million in funding, will fall into Administration at the end of the season if a buyer cannot be found.

Wycombe fans are now concerned that their loss-making club, which has leaked on average £1million a season during Hayes' full ownership, will follow Wasps into Administration without further funding. They currently sit four points inside the League One relegation zone with four games remaining.
