Winnall Loan Spell Ends This Week

Sam Winnall's loan spell at Edgar Street is due to end this coming week. It's not yet known if Wolves will agree to an extension.

Winnall joined on Friday August 26th and was on the bench the following day at Bristol Rovers. His first full appearance for the Bulls was on the following Tuesday evening in the Paint Trophy tie at Bournemouth.

The young striker had to be content with a place on the bench when Dagenham were the visitors on September 3rd. However manager Jamie Pitman brought him on in place of the tiring Delroy Facey on 67 minutes.

With just five minutes remaining, Our Nicky (Featherstone) was once more instrumental in getting the ball to Winall. The Wolves man, successful last term with Burton, picked it up on half way, and headed goalward. Checking and shielding expertly, he sought overlapping colleagues two or three times. Unable to find the right pass, and finding himself fast approaching the eighteen yard box, he tried his luck and sent a scorching low shot beyond Lewington’s despairing fingertips and into the corner of the net.

His second goal came in the Gillingham game.

Sam Winnal scored arguably the best gaol of the game when he cracked home a twenty-yard free-kick consolation with three minutes remaining.

Two goals in six games isn't the best of returns. However given the Bulls have only scored four League goals in ten games Pitman may be very pleased if his loan is extended.
