Newport County have sacked manager Andrew Hudson after the Conference club slumped to bottom but one in the league.
Hudson was appointed after former manager Dean Holdsworth moved to take charge at Aldershot.
"It is a results business," County chairman Chris Blight told BBC Wales.
"We find ourselves in the unenviable position of being bottom but one.
"And we need to make sure we not only stay in this league but put matters right. We have high ambitions.
"We are a quarter of the way through the season and to be where we are, to Newport County Football Club is not what we expected or anticipated."
Newport have progressed up the leagues over the past few seasons and there had been hopes that they might have joined Hereford United in League Two in a season or two.
