Preview: Bulls vs Crewe

The Bulls entertain Crewe on Sunday at Edgar Street for a League Two match.

It is the third successive season the Bulls have faced the Railwaymen after a 15 year break. From the five encounters in recent times, the two sides have two wins each with one draw. Back in the August sun the Bulls ran out 1-0 winners at Gresty Road with the hosts missing a hatful of chances while, last time at Edgar Street, John Trewick's side played out a 1-1 draw in front of just 1,367 on a cold January night with Leon Constantine giving the Bulls the lead before Clayton Donaldson equalised just after half time.

The Bulls will be looking for the return of the sunshine to bring about a change in fortunes on home soil. It seems a long time ago that Swansea were played off the park in pre-season, only for the League dreams to shatter shortly after the opening day win at Crewe. Just five of those that started at Crewe began Tuesday's draw with Port Vale, although Joe Colbeck will return from suspension and Kenny Lunt was a surprise omission from the XI at Gresty Road. New signing Jason Price has form with Crewe having scored six times against them through his career, including a goal in a JPT area final that cost the Railwaymen a trip to Wembley.

Dario Gradi's men have struggled for consistency all season in front of goal. They have hit three or more goals ten times this season including a seven goal demolition of Barnet but, like the opening day of the season, they have also regularly struggled to find the target. Their defence is equally inconsistent with the Bulls' goal at Gresty Road being one of only 15 conceded at home all season, but they have leaked 41 on the road to collect the lowest number of points away from home than anyone in the top two-thirds of the table.

Hereford United vs Crewe Alexandra, Edgar Street, Sunday 27th March, 3.00pm.
