Clarke And Elmes In At Yeltz

Former Bulls Matt Clarke and Rob Elmes are the new management team at Halesowen.

It has been a difficult summer for the Yeltz, who had been barred from playing football over unpaid debts that former owner Morrell Maison refused to pay. He himself was subject to another banning order over his touchline behaviour, but club shareholders have now forced him out of the club entirely and cleared footballing debts to enable the club to prepare for the new season that starts in two weeks.

It will be an uphill task for Clarke and Elmes, who will go into the Southern League Premier division with a patched up squad. Clarke told the Birmingham Mail: "It's fantastic news that the sanctions have been lifted. It means I can now go out and bring in more players. While the sanctions were in place, players were reluctant to commit themselves. As a result I still need three or four players to make up the squad."

Elmes was brought to Edgar Street from Halesowen, playing 110 times for the Bulls between 1999 and 2002. Clarke played 143 times at Edgar Street over five seasons, leaving the Bulls to follow scout Ron Jukes to Telford in 2003.
