Darlington In Trouble

An article on the BBC suggest that Darlington will, once again, be facing up to a financial crisis in the very near future.

The article, published on Monday, suggests the club is facing a £2million loss in the current year as they struggled to even half fill their massive new stadium. The claims come despite the club spending a six figure sum on Julian Joachim from Boston and announcing hefty budget increases, pushing the total wage bill over £1million, for manager Dave Penney to work with in the coming season.

Darlington were brought out of Adminstration in late 2004 after it was nearly slammed into the wall by colourful former chairman George Reynolds. However on-field results have not improved and the club is now pinning it's financial future on a new leisure development on the site to include a ski slope and hotel.

The club itself has been silent since the article appeared, and fans are questioning the validity of the claims of an increased wage budget with the squad shedding ten players since the turn of the year.
