After a day when all the Torquay talk was about how long Leroy Rosenior was in the manager's hotseat, it has emerged this evening that a Lotto millonaire winner is behind the takeover of the club.
Although the takeover is led by local businessman Cris Boyce, it is being part funded by Paul Bristow.
Bristow and his wife scopped £15 million on the National Lottery in 2004.
Meanwhile Boston United, the other club relegated from Division Two, still owes its players thousands of pounds in wages and defender Paul Ellender has suggested player may not turn up for pre-season training.
"We all received letters in the post the other day telling us to report back for pre-season training on July 5," Ellender told the Lincolnshire Echo.
"Now I see the club have planned pre-season games. I can't understand that when we haven't been paid and with the future of the club so uncertain."
